Over the 4th we went camping in the Port Angeles area. For those of you that do not live here it is just north of the Olympic National Park. We stayed in a campground called the Salt Creek Recreation Area. It is a county run park and is a great place for families to camp. It is located on the Strait of Juan De Fuca.
Again, we are amazed at the beauty that surrounds us!
This camp trip was scheduled pretty close to our last one and we were having a hard time feeling motivated; even on the morning we were set to leave. Once we got on the road though we were feeling good about being able to get out and away for the holiday.
I don't know how you all feel but when we are away from all the distractions of life (myspace, tv, work, blogs, chores) we find it easier to love being a family. We play more games together. We find more things to laugh about. We just enjoy each other's company more. Makes me wonder why we jump right back into the distractions when we get home. Like right now everyone is off doing their own thing. I guess that is why you need to schedule "together" activities so that you have time to reconnect and remain close as a family. It is even more important now as our kids get older. They are becoming more and more independent and before we know it, they will be out on their own starting their own lives. We were taken back when we thought about the fact that we will probably only have three more full summers with Jenessa before she is on her own. Excuse me, I need to dry my eye.............................Okay I am back.
Here are some pics...
The favorite part of the trip for everyone was the hike to Sol Duc Falls. It is one of the most amazing waterfalls we have seen. The pictures we took really do not do it justice. Here is a view from a different angle.

Looks like so much fun! I love the pictures, especially the one of Crescent Bay. I know my kids are still really young but I was thinking about this very same thing earlier today. Time just goes by so fast. It looks like you guys are doing a great job of spending quality family time together.
Wow,Wow,Wow!!! You guys have been to so many awesome places. I am so jealous. There is a chance that we may move to Seatle when Wayne finishes school. Wouldn't that be awesome then we could go on camping trips together. That is so sad that your kids our growing up. I can't belive how grown up they look in all the pictures. Thanks for reminding me to enjoy every moment I have with Apri.
Nice post.
I'm with you on leaving the electronic crap behind and doing stuff together as a family when possible! It looks like you're having a great summer. If we do ever make it up to Seattle one of these upcoming summers(Tony has 3 siblings there & one in the Bay area who we hardly see any of)we'd love to see you too.
great shots! i have wanted to go there FOREVER...only drawback to the peninsula is that its usually RAINING when we go there-looks like you had great weather...lucky!
We were in Sequim last year this time. I took some photos and sent them to my sister spelling the name of the strait so poorly it was memorable... "Wanda Fooka". Ouch. We went out on the Dungeneous Spit and I still think of the beautiful stones there, you cannot take any with you but I was sorely tempted. Loved your post about the augmentation frustration :)
I am so jealous of your fun camping trips! It's the middle of July and we still haven't had our trailer out yet! Life just gets too busy. Which is exactly why I agree so much with your sweet statement about time passing us by. We have to take the time now to enjoy our kids while we have them.
GREAT pictures! Looks like you had a really good time. We'll have to venture there just to see that amazing waterfall. Gorgeous!
I'm so sad there were no vampire sightings! When you said Port Angeles that is the first thing I thought of. _ We had already realized that we only have 4 more years with Erika. It is a shocking reality! I don't like thinking about it. I didn't handle Jackson going into first grade...what are the odds I'll hadn't Erika leaving too well?!
What a great trip. Glad you could get away. I'd love to get away with my family and leave all the distractions behind too. Now you've motivated us to do it!
I've never responded to a tag, but Pam tagged me and I included you in on it as well, so check out my newest post for details if you're interested in joining in...
ooOoo! That is a stunning waterfall! I'm so excited for our upcoming camping trips. I love camping so much.
